With reference to your letter of 7th instant

No. 2882/1913, inquiring whether men in the Scottish prisons

service would be likely under the conditions stated to be-

-come candidates for the Hong Kong prisons service, I am

directed by the Secretary for Scotland to inquire whether

the Secretary of State can supply any information as to

the relative cost of living in Hong Kong and in this

country.
